• The new album by Handsome Furs is one of my favorite albums of 2011. It’s out now on Sub Pop Records.
• New music from Ernest Greene, aka Washed Out, also comes HIGHLY recommended. His debut album, Within And Without, is out on Sub Pop Records.
• Merrill Garbus, who records & performs as Tune-Yards, has pipes. She is also out On Tour. You might want to go see her.
• Also, someone buy me this shirt that Ryan from Pitchfork posted on Twitter. Okay, to be fair, he got it from Kenny Bloggins.
• M.I.A. released a song titled 27. It was previously written about friends who died at age 27, as well as being a nod to the ’27 club’ — famous musicians who self-destruct at age 27. She released it as a tribute to Amy Winehouse. (R.I.P.) Listen/Download over at Stereogum.
